Sustainability - A Way of Life
ACC limited is the leading cement manufacturer in the country to have its Net-Zero emissions 2050 and Near-Term targets 2030 validated by SBTi. In terms of scale, it is the fourth largest company globally to have this validation.
Growth to us is about responsibility, resilience, and a firm commitment to sustainability. Sustainability to us isn’t just about the environment; it’s equally about people. We nurture our employees, ensure safety in every operation, empower our customers with end-to-end solutions, and uplift the communities we call home.
The Company’s sustainability initiatives cover a wide spectrum. From energy conservation to deploying renewable energy and green energy, using wastes in cement production as alternate fuels and raw material to water, emissions reduction to creating institutionalised mechanisms to monitor environmental risks and strict adherence to the company’s ‘zero non-compliance’ regime and much more, ACC Limited's sustained efforts have helped ingrain the sustainability agenda in the company’s DNA.
Innovation and technology play a key role in driving our efforts in these areas. With this objective, our R&D Centre provides comprehensive technical and analytical support to the business and pioneers in developing sustainable business solutions. With an eye on the future, ACC Limited has conceived the Sustainable Development Plan 2030 providing strategic direction to the company’s long-term sustainability vision.
ESG framework
Our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) governance is led by the Corporate Responsibility Committee (CRC), which consists of independent directors overseeing sustainability matters across our organization. The Committee meets quarterly to review performance on key KPIs across our four pillars of sustainability: climate and energy, water and nature, circular economy, and people and communities. The Committee guides the business on the way forward, considering emerging global and national expectations.
The ESG framework includes a set of policies that serve as guiding documents, all of which are approved by the Board. The business has committed to key ESG KPIs and has shared this information transparently. There is a well-defined assurance system that includes both internal audits and external third-party audits. All ESG disclosures are aligned with relevant international and national frameworks such as GRI, GHG protocol, IR, TCFD, and SEBI-BRSR, which act as guiding principles.
